For this 4 hour film challenge we were tasked with creating a video essay/supercut analysing how obsession is shown in the 2014 film 'Whiplash', directed by Damien Chazelle, discussing 5 or more points and focusing on mise-en-scene, editing, camera and lighting, dialogue, colour, sound and performance.
Here I did a mind map of all the potential points I wanted to cover within my video essay.
I then downloaded the movie and cut all the clips I wanted to use and wrote down the points I wanted to make for each clip so it was easier to efficiently write the captions.
One issue I had with my video essay is that the text was low quality and was hard to read. I tried to resolve this by changing the quality of the video, using a different font or changing the size of the text but for some reason the quality wouldn't improve which I found quite frustrating.
