Director of Photography
Important things for director of photography to consider
- what shutter speed? shutter speed = how long shutter is open to let light in
- faster = smoother action, slower = more blurred, can show movement etc
- framing
- lighting - artificial, natural, whether there is enough or too much light
- angles - these may be also decided by director working with DP
- film/digital, type of camera, lenses?
- exposure - links in with lighting
- aperture - depth of field- may change back and forth within a scene eg. to show a conversation moving back and forth between two characters
- recording surface sensitivity - iso, higher ISO = more grainy, may be desired effect if creating a spooky atmosphere etc
- light meter - correctly exposed in centre
